What does an Insurance Broker do?

Hear from our Education Specialist about the key roles an Insurance Broker plays in the industry.

What do I do?

As an Insurance Broker, I need to possess a certain level of technical expertise in the following areas.

Technical expertise areas

Conducting complex product analysis

I assess client needs and analyse a wide range of insurance products, identifying the optimal cover across different providers and markets. I evaluate new and emerging risks, interpret bespoke policy wording and lead on complex negotiations to secure the best terms for clients.

Providing personalised guidance and expertise

I support clients with complex insurance needs, offering tailored advice on risk transfer and mitigation. I design bespoke insurance programmes, anticipate future service requirements, and ensure continuity even during market disruptions. As a senior advisor, I guide less experienced colleagues and contribute to strategic decision-making across the business.

Analysing data and making recommendations

I assess client portfolios and emerging risks to deliver strategic, compliant recommendations. I use data insights to shape tailored solutions that protect clients and support long-term business goals.

Implementing process improvements

I identify and implement strategic improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce risk. I proactively manage the impact of insurer changes to protect business continuity and client outcomes.

Operations Management

I use customer feedback and complaint insights to improve service and prevent issues recurring. I collaborate across teams to ensure we meet regulatory standards and deliver a consistently high-quality experience.
