Our Commitment
The Insurance Institute is committed to ensuring that our digital platforms are accessible to all users. We are actively working towards achieving Level AA conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. This includes implementing the necessary standards across our website and Member Area.
We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of our digital platforms to identify and address any accessibility gaps. This statement will be updated as we progress with our improvements.
We believe in creating an inclusive digital experience and are dedicated to delivering user-friendly, accessible services for everyone. This commitment also extends to any third-party systems we procure or upgrade.
Non-accessible Content
We are continuously working to improve our compliance with WCAG standards. The following areas are currently under review:
- Missing ALT text: Some non-text elements lack appropriate text alternatives, which may hinder users relying on screen readers.
- Insufficient colour contrast: Certain elements do not meet the minimum contrast ratio, making them difficult to read for users with visual impairments.
- Empty buttons: Some buttons do not contain value text, which may prevent users from understanding their function.
- Incomplete form labels: Some form labels are present but do not contain descriptive content, potentially causing confusion for assistive technology users.
- Broken ARIA references: Some ARIA attributes reference elements that do not exist, which may lead to accessibility issues for screen reader users.
Additional Support
We are committed to supporting our members in achieving exam success and professional development. To that end, we offer a range of additional supports, including:
- Alternative online formats for members with dyslexia or visual impairments
- Additional exam time for those who require it
- Scribe assistance for written modules
For more details on available accommodations and how to request them, please visit the Additional Support section on the Exam Information page of our website.
