Mar 07 2017
The Insurance Institute once again took home the Best Learning and Development Organisation award in the not-for-profit category at Friday night’s Irish Institute of Training and Development (IITD) awards, held at Killashee House in Naas.
The award recognises the investment the organisation makes in training and developing its employees and the Institute were also the 2016 winners in this category.
Dermot Murray, CEO at The Insurance Institute is passionate about employee development and commented "The learning and development of both our staff and our members is an absolute priority for us, as it is essential to maintaining the highest standards in the industry. This award recognises and celebrates our commitment to really developing our people.”
The Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship was also shortlisted in the Best Graduate / Internship Initiative category, alongside programmes from Aldi, Irish Distillers, KPMG and Matheson. The ‘earn and learn’ level 8 degree programme launched in September last year, with 67 apprentices starting work in 36 organisations nationwide.
“To receive this recognition only six months after the apprenticeship’s launch truly shows the programme’s potential,” Sandra Harvey-Graham, Apprenticeship Programme Manager commented. “It’s up there with the best in the country and is the first of its kind, so we’re very excited to see just how far this apprenticeship can go.”
Applications for the next programme will open in the coming weeks, with employers from both the life and general insurance sectors signing up to take on up to 150 apprentices.
