Insurance Practitioner Apprentice to appear on Ireland AM this Thursday

The Insurance Institute have some exciting news. One of our apprentices, Paddy Power, will be appearing on TV3’s Ireland AM this Thursday 2 February at 8.15am to speak about his experience of the programme so far.

Paddy is an apprentice with Wright Insurance Brokers in Wexford and made a career change into insurance after working 15 years in hospitality.

Dr Mary Liz Trant from SOLAS will also be on with him to discuss the new role of apprenticeship programmes. This comes just a week after Education Minister Richard Bruton and Skills Minister John Halligan launched the Government's plan to expand apprenticeships and traineeships and pledged to deliver 50,000 registrations by 2020

The Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship is Ireland’s first apprenticeship to deliver a level 8 honours degree – the BA in Insurance Practice. With 67 apprentices recruited in its first year, the programme has been hugely popular among students, career changers and employers alike.

The Insurance Institute is taking registrations of interest from those considering applying for the 2017 programme, which begins in September. Recruitment will begin later on in the Spring.
