The Insurance Institute of Cork Annual Dinner

Over 440 Insurance Institute of Cork members, their guests plus visiting dignitaries attended the “Cork Dinner” as it’s affectionately known, on Friday 20th January 2012, last in the Silversprings Hotel.

Amongst the attendees were IBA’s Carl Rainey, Patricia Byron of InjuriesBoard.ie, Bill Prasifka the Financial Services Ombudsman, Gerry Hassett who is the President of the IIF,  Finbarr O’Sullivan from the LIA Southern Region, Jarlath Jordan of PIBA, along with the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork and representatives of the Sales Institute, Cork Chamber and Southern Law Association. The III was well represented with Eamon Shackleton, CEO, Philip Smith, President and Richard Endersen, Deputy President, all present on the night.

President of the Insurance Institute of Cork, Rosaleen Mackeown spoke about the importance of supporting your local institute and about the value in obtaining a high level of qualification for younger members interested in carving a professional career in Insurance.

Three students were also presented with education awards on the night by President of the Insurance Institute of Ireland Philip Smith. Dominic Sheridan of Aviva received the Charlie Gladstone award for the best result received in ACII subject IP05, while Karena Devane of Assurant and Johanna Lane of Cuffe & Co., who was represented on the night by Bertie Cuffe, jointly received the inaugural McCarthy Insurance Group educational award, which is for the best CIP student each year.

Minister for Agriculture, Food & Marine Simon Coveney TD was the evening’s guest speaker and impressed all present with his positivity and enthusiasm. The evening ended on a similarly positive note with Christy Kenneally’s amusing anecdotes also having a motivational twist.
